What Is Smart Exit in FYERS, and How Does It Work?
Smart Exit is an account-level risk management feature that allows you to define an overall Target (profit) and/or Stop-loss (maximum loss) across eligible positions.
When either condition is triggered, you can choose to:
- Automatically exit eligible positions (Exit mode), or
- Receive a notification (Alert only mode)
Smart Exit helps you manage trading risk across multiple positions without placing individual stop-loss orders.
How Smart Exit Works
Smart Exit continuously monitors your overall account-level P&L (absolute ₹ value) across eligible positions.
It applies to:
- Intraday equity positions
- Intraday F&O positions
- Overnight F&O positions
It does not apply to:
- Equity Delivery positions
- MTF (Margin Trading Facility) positions
When your defined condition is met:
- In Exit mode, eligible positions are squared off using a Market order with Protection (MPP).
- In alert only mode, you receive a notification and positions remain open.
Validity of Smart Exit
Smart Exit remains active across trading days.
It continues monitoring eligible open positions until:
- You manually deactivate it, or
- All positions covered under Smart Exit are squared off.
You do not need to activate Smart Exit again each day if positions remain open.
Key Characteristics
- Works at the account level, not per individual position.
- Uses absolute ₹ values, not percentages.
- Setting a Target is optional.
- Only one Smart Exit can be active at a time.
- You can exclude specific positions from Smart Exit.
- Trail stop-loss can be applied to overall P&L.
- Retest can be applied to both Target and Stop-loss.
- Take a Break can stop trading automatically once Smart Exit triggers.
What If…
| Scenario | Outcome |
|---|
| I hold overnight F&O positions | They will be monitored and exited if Smart Exit conditions are triggered. |
| I hold delivery positions | Delivery holdings are excluded and remain unaffected. |
| I hold MTF positions | MTF positions are excluded from Smart Exit. |
| I close all covered positions | Smart Exit remains active unless manually deactivated. |
| I only want alerts | Select Alert Only mode while activating Smart Exit. |
