How to add a beneficiary on CDSL to transfer securities?

To ensure secure off-market transfers, CDSL requires the sender (transferor) to add the recipient’s (transferee’s) Demat account as a beneficiary. Follow the steps below to add a beneficiary on CDSL and complete the process for seamless transactions.

Steps to Add a Beneficiary on CDSL
  1. Visit the CDSL portal.
  2. Log in using your Easi or Easiest credentials.
    • If not registered, you can register for Easi/Easiest. For guidance, refer to this article.
  3. Navigate to the Transaction section and select BO Linking, then click BO Linking Setup.
  4. Enter the recipient’s BO ID and PAN to add them as a beneficiary.
  5. Submit the beneficiary details to complete the initial step.

Verification Process

Once you’ve added the beneficiary details, CDSL will send a verification email. To verify:
  1. Open the email and click the link provided.
  2. Enter your PAN and the 16-digit Demat Account Number.
  3. Review and confirm the beneficiary details.
  4. Tick the checkbox and click Generate OTP.
  5. Enter the OTP received on your registered mobile/email and submit.
  6. Click OK to complete the verification.
