How to add a beneficiary on CDSL to transfer securities?

Before you can transfer securities via CDSL, you must add the recipient’s Demat account as a beneficiary. This is a mandatory step for all off-market and gifting transfers through the CDSL portal.

Steps to Add a Beneficiary on CDSL

  1. Log in to CDSL Easi/Easiest
    1. Go to the CDSL Easi/Easiest login page
    2. Use your registered credentials to log in

  1. Navigate to BO Linking
    1. Go to the “Transaction” tab
    2. Click on “BO Linking” → “BO Linking Setup”

  2. Add Beneficiary Details
    1. Enter the beneficiary’s 16-digit BO ID and PAN

    3. Submit to initiate the beneficiary setup

  1. Complete Verification via Email
    1. Open the verification email from CDSL
    2. Click the verification link
    3. Enter your PAN and 16-digit Demat Account Number
    4. Confirm the details, tick the checkbox, and click “Generate OTP”
    5. Enter OTP received via email or SMS and click Submit
