How do I add a CDSL beneficiary?
Before you can transfer securities via CDSL, you must add the recipient’s Demat account as a beneficiary. This is a mandatory step for all off-market and gifting transfers through the CDSL portal.
Steps to add a beneficiary on CDSL
Log in to CDSL Easi/Easiest
Navigate to BO Linking
- Go to the “Transaction” tab
- Click on “BO Linking” → “BO Linking Setup”
Add beneficiary details
- Enter the beneficiary’s 16-digit BO ID and PAN

- Submit to initiate the beneficiary setup

Complete verification via email
- Open the verification email from CDSL
- Click the verification link
- Enter your PAN and 16-digit Demat account number
- Confirm the details, tick the checkbox, and click “Generate OTP”
- Enter the OTP received via email or SMS and click Submit

- You’ll receive a confirmation message
- The beneficiary is now linked and eligible for off-market transfers
Ensure the BO ID and PAN entered are accurate. Errors may delay or block the beneficiary approval process.
After beneficiary setup
Once the setup is complete, you can transfer securities using:
