A dormant trading account is one that has had no activity for 24 consecutive months. As per SEBI regulations, such accounts are marked inactive to protect investors and ensure compliance. If your FYERS account becomes dormant, you cannot trade until it is reactivated.
This article explains when an account is considered dormant, why you should keep it active, and how to reactivate it online (Web/App) or offline (for non-individual accounts).
When is an account considered dormant?
Your FYERS account will be marked dormant if none of these activities are recorded for 24 months:
- No trading or participation in corporate actions (OFS, buy-backs, open offers)
- No IPO, SGB, or mutual fund applications via the exchange
- No updates to KYC information (email, mobile, or address) through FYERS and updated in KRA
If any of these are done within 24 months, your account stays active.
Why you should keep your account active
- Regulatory compliance: Staying active ensures you meet SEBI KYC norms.
- Seamless access: Updated details avoid login restrictions and service delays.
- Faster transactions: Active accounts don’t face reactivation waiting times.
- Investment readiness: You won’t miss trading opportunities while waiting for reactivation.
Reactivation process for individual accounts
If your account is dormant, a reactivation screen will appear automatically when you log in on FYERS Web or App.
On FYERS Web
Processing time: 4–5 working days.
On FYERS App
Processing time: 4–5 working days.
Reactivation process for non-individual accounts
For Corporate, HUF, or NRI accounts, reactivation must be done offline:
- Download and print the reactivation form (available from FYERS Support).
- Fill out the form and sign it.
- Attach self-attested copies of PAN and Aadhaar.
- Courier the documents to:
FYERS Securities Private Limited
225, 14th Cross Rd, Rahmath Nagar,

Processing time: 5–7 working days from receipt of documents.

Scenario | Outcome |
---|
My account is marked dormant | Submit KYC verification and request reactivation via FYERS Web/App. |
I want to avoid dormancy | Log in and trade periodically to keep your account active. |
I didn’t receive Aadhaar OTP | Ensure your mobile number is linked with Aadhaar (check/update at UIDAI). |
I don’t see a reactivation screen | Your account is still active—reactivation appears only after 24 months of inactivity. |
I have a corporate or NRI account | Follow the offline reactivation process via form and courier. |
I’m unsure about SEBI rules | Check the official SEBI Circular on KYC Norms and Framework for Automated Deactivation. |
Important: If your account becomes dormant, you cannot trade until reactivation is completed.
Tip: To prevent dormancy, log in and place at least one trade or update your KYC details periodically.
