From when is data available?

  • Index Volume is available starting 01 July 2025.
  • For dates prior to this, Volume will not be displayed (the pane may appear empty or show zero depending on platform behavior).

How is index Volume calculated?

Index Volume is calculated as the sum of traded volumes of all current index constituents for the selected interval.

Example: On a 1-minute NIFTY 50 chart at 9:16 AM, the traded volumes of all 50 NIFTY 50 stocks at 9:16 are added together. The total is plotted as the NIFTY 50 volume for that candle.

  • This is not futures volume or turnover.
  • Index rebalancing is reflected from the effective date of the constituent change.
  • If a constituent does not trade in a bar, its contribution is zero while other constituents still sum up.
