How to Convert an MTF Position Into an Overnight Position?

You can convert an open MTF position into an Overnight position on FYERS if you place the request during the allowed time and have sufficient margin available for CNC.

After a successful conversion request, the shares are moved to your CNC holdings on the next working day.

Steps to Convert an MTF Position

FYERS App

  • Go to PortfolioPositions.
  • Select the MTF stock you want to convert.
  • Tap Convert to Overnight.
  • Enter the quantity.
  • Tap Confirm.

FYERS Web

  • Go to PortfolioPositions.
  • Click the ⋮ (menu) next to the MTF position.
  • Select Convert to Overnight.
  • Enter the quantity.
  • Click Convert.

FYERS Trader

  • Go to Account managerPositions.
  • Click the ✎ (Edit) icon for the MTF position.
  • Select Convert to Overnight.
  • Enter the quantity.
  • Click Confirm.

Key Conditions

  • Time: Conversion requests can be placed only between 9:00 AM and 7:00 PM on trading days.
  • Funds: You must have sufficient margin required for CNC.
  • Settlement: The shares are moved to your CNC holdings on the next working day.

What If?

I want to convert an MTF position on the same day of purchaseNo, an MTF position cannot be converted into a CNC holding on the same day of purchase. Once the trade is settled, the client becomes eligible to place a conversion request on the next trading day. This allows the position to be shifted from MTF to CNC so the shares can be held in the demat account without ongoing funding or interest charges.
I want to convert an MIS or CNC position to MTFNo, MIS and CNC positions cannot be converted to MTF. However, MTF positions can be converted to CNC.
