Why is data missing or not updating in the FYERS Options Chain?

Why is data missing or not updating in the FYERS Options Chain?

If the Options Chain appears blank, doesn't populate correctly, or seems outdated, it’s usually due to limited contract availability, market closure, or connectivity issues. Here’s how to identify the common causes and fix them quickly.

Common reasons for missing or frozen data

  • Stock is not listed in F&O segment
Options Chain only works for instruments that are part of NSE's Futures & Options segment. If the stock isn’t F&O-enabled, the chain will not load.
  • Low liquidity or inactive contracts
Instruments with very low open interest or zero trading volume (especially on offbeat expiries) may show empty rows.
  • Market is closed
During weekends, holidays, or after-hours, live data like OI Change or Greeks may not refresh.
  • Network lag or session timeout
Weak internet or idle sessions can interrupt real-time updates in the Options Chain.
  • Browser-related display glitches
Cache issues or tab hangups can sometimes prevent the view from refreshing fully.

Troubleshooting steps

  • Confirm the instrument is listed in the F&O segment (e.g., NIFTY, BANKNIFTY, FINNIFTY, or eligible stocks).
  • Check if the issue occurs only during off-market hours.
  • Refresh the browser tab or press Ctrl+R (Cmd+R on Mac) to reload.
  • Try using the Custom tab or switch between views (Price ↔ Greeks) to trigger a refresh.
  • Clear cache or try an alternate browser if display issues persist.
For illiquid contracts, enable the Show Only Active Strikes toggle to avoid blank rows caused by zero volume.
