Will Smart Exit Close Overnight Positions Automatically When either of the Conditions Are Hit?

Yes, Smart Exit can automatically close eligible overnight F&O positions if your defined Stop-loss or Target condition is triggered during market hours.

Smart Exit works at the account level and monitors your overall P&L across all covered positions, including eligible F&O positions carried overnight.

However, Smart Exit does not apply to:

  • Equity Delivery/CNC positions
  • MTF (Margin Trading Facility) positions

How it works for overnight positions

If you have open F&O positions carried forward:

  • Smart Exit continues monitoring them across trading days, as long as it remains active.
  • If the defined Stop-loss or Target is reached during market hours, the selected action is triggered.
  • In Exit mode, eligible positions are closed using a Market order with Protection (MPP).
  • In Alert Only mode, you receive a notification and your positions remain open.

You do not need to activate Smart Exit again the next day if it is already active.

Important to know

  • Smart Exit monitors overall account-level P&L, not individual positions.
  • It remains active across trading days unless you manually deactivate it.
  • Only one Smart Exit condition can be active at a time.
  • Equity Delivery/CNC and MTF positions are excluded from Smart Exit.
