Will FYERS charge penalties for debit balances in trading accounts?

If your FYERS trading account reflects a negative (debit) balance of more than ₹100, a penalty is charged. This helps maintain platform integrity and ensures timely clearance of dues.

How the Penalty Works

  • Threshold: Penalty applies when the debit balance exceeds ₹100.
  • Rate: 15% per annum (0.041% per day) on the outstanding amount.
  • Accrual: The penalty is calculated daily.
  • Charging: It is posted at month-end as a Journal Voucher (JV) entry in your ledger.
  • Start Date: Effective from 1 June 2021.
Important: FYERS does not reverse or waive penalties unless the debit balance results from a verified exchange settlement delay or system-related issue.
Tip: To learn why the penalty rate is 15% p.a., refer to this article.
