Why is my order rejected stating, "Provide a valid trigger price for placing an order. Your trigger price should be less than the LTP."?
This rejection message occurs when the trigger price you have set for your order is invalid. Here’s why this happens and how to correct it:
- Trigger Price and LTP (Last Traded Price): The trigger price is a price at which an order is activated in the market. For a valid trigger price, it must be less than the Last Traded Price (LTP) when buying above the market or selling below the market.
- Setting a Valid Trigger Price:
- Buying Above the Market: When you want to buy at a price higher than the current market price, ensure your trigger price is set below the LTP.
- Selling Below the Market: When you want to sell at a price lower than the current market price, your trigger price should be below the LTP.
For example, if the LTP of a stock is ₹100:
- To buy above the market, set the trigger price below ₹100.
- To sell below the market, also set the trigger price below ₹100.
