Why are block size and block colour not customisable in the Sector Heatmap?
The Sector Heatmap is designed to provide a fast and consistent comparison of sector performance. To achieve this, key parameters such as block size and block colour are intentionally fixed and cannot be customised.
Why these parameters are fixed
Unlike the regular Heatmap, which is built for detailed and flexible stock-level analysis, the Sector Heatmap focuses on simplicity and clarity at a broader level.
- Block size is always based on the market capitalisation of the sector, so larger sectors are visually represented in proportion to their market importance.
- Block colour is always based on price change (%) for the selected timeframe, making it easy to compare sector performance at a glance.
Allowing multiple custom parameters at the sector level can dilute comparability and slow down analysis, which is why these controls are intentionally restricted.
What If?
| If you are wondering... | Here’s what you need to know |
|---|
| Can I apply financial ratios or growth metrics to sectors? | No. Sector Heatmaps only use market cap and price change to keep comparisons uniform across sectors. |
| Can I use Heat Multiplier or sensitivity settings here? | No. Heat Multiplier is available only in the regular Heatmap for stock-level analysis. |
| Where can I perform detailed or customisable analysis instead? | You can use the regular Heatmap or Bubble Chart under Market Analytics for advanced, multi-parameter analysis. |
