What is the Positions P&L Curve?
The Positions P&L Curve is a visual that tracks how your profit and loss changes during the trading day for an active position.
It helps you see drawdowns, recoveries, and peak profits at a glance—instead of relying only on a single end-of-day number.
What is this feature?
The Position’s P&L Curve shows the real-time progression of P&L for a single active position during the current trading session.
As prices move, the curve updates to reflect how the position’s value has changed over time.
Why it matters
- Spot drawdowns quickly: See when the position dipped and by how much.
- Recognize recoveries: Identify when losses narrowed or flipped to profit.
- Improve decisions: Use the path of P&L—not just the current value—to evaluate risk control and exits.
Notes
- Intraday only: The curve reflects today’s session for that position and typically stops updating once the position is closed or after market hours.
- Position-specific: Each curve tracks a single position. For multiple holdings, use portfolio-level P&L views (if available).
- High-water marks aren’t guarantees: Intraday peaks are snapshots; the position may not close at those levels.
- Leverage & derivatives: For options/futures, P&L reflects that specific contract’s movement (consider strike, expiry, lot size, and implied volatility).
