What are the intraday square-off timings at FYERS?
Intraday trades must be squared off before market close to avoid overnight risks. At FYERS, this square-off is automated and triggered by the Risk Management System (RMS) based on pre-defined timings. These cut-offs differ depending on the trading segment.
Intraday Square-off Timings by Segment
Segment | Market Close Time | Square-off Initiation |
---|
Equity (Cash Market) | 3:30 PM | 3:15 PM |
Index F&O (NIFTY, BANKNIFTY, etc.) | 3:30 PM | 3:15 PM |
Stock F&O | 3:30 PM | 3:15 PM |
Non-Agri Commodities (Crude, Gold, etc.) | 11:30 PM / 11:55 PM* | 11:15 PM / 11:40 PM* |
*Commodity market timings vary slightly due to US daylight saving adjustments.

Why does FYERS initiate intraday square-off early?
- To avoid settlement complications by exiting before exchange deadlines.
- To ensure timely margin reconciliation and risk monitoring.
- To protect clients from unintended overnight exposure.
What If...
Scenario | What Happens? |
---|
You don’t exit your intraday position manually | RMS auto-squares off the position at market price. Slippage and square-off charges apply. |
Market is highly volatile | Square-off may be delayed slightly for liquidity or volatility management. |
You place a new trade after square-off begins | It is treated as a delivery/carry-forward trade and needs full margin upfront. |
Tip: To avoid execution delays or additional charges, aim to close intraday positions before the square-off window begins.
Alternative: Instead of having your positions auto squared-off by our Risk team and incurring additional charges, you can place a Smart Limit Order to exit your position. This gives you greater control over price and timing. Smart Limit Orders can help manage slippage and reduce the risk of forced exits during volatile market conditions. Learn how to use smart limit orders.
