What insights can I get from the Insights tab for an index on FYERS?

Understand what is driving the index
If the NIFTY50 is moving sharply, the Index Movers section helps you identify the stocks responsible for that move. For example, if TCS and Infosys are the top positive contributors while Reliance Industries is a major negative contributor, you can quickly understand what is influencing the index without analysing all 50 stocks.
The Sector Allocation chart helps you identify which sectors carry the highest weight in the index. If Financial Services has the largest allocation, movements in banking stocks are likely to have a greater impact on the NIFTY50.
Similarly, the Market Cap Allocation chart shows whether the index is dominated by large-cap, mid-cap, or small-cap companies, giving you a better understanding of the type of companies driving its performance.
Understand the index's risk
The Risk Analysis section helps you evaluate how the index has historically behaved.
For example, Beta indicates how closely the index has moved with the broader market. A value close to 1 generally means it has moved in line with the market, while a higher Beta suggests greater sensitivity to market movements.
You can also use metrics such as Standard Deviation to understand the index's historical volatility and the Sharpe Ratio to assess whether it has generated better returns for the level of risk taken.
Understand broader market sentiment
The Tools section provides additional insights that complement your analysis.
For example, FII/DII Activity helps you track whether Foreign Institutional Investors (FIIs) and Domestic Institutional Investors (DIIs) are buying or selling. Tracking these capital flows can help you understand broader market sentiment.
You can also use the Heatmap to identify sectors driving the market, the Bubble Chart to compare stocks using different market parameters, or Bulk/Block Deals to monitor significant institutional transactions.
