Customise Order Flow settings: Clusters, Delta, Cumulative Delta, and Imbalances

Order Flow provides a detailed view of executed trading activity within each candle. Instead of showing only price movement, it lets you see the traded volume at different price levels and understand where aggressive buying and selling occurred.

Cluster

A Cluster gives you a detailed view of a single candle. Unlike a regular candle, it shows the traded volume at each price level within that candle.

You can see the volume and buying and selling activity at each price level directly on the chart.

The values displayed in a Cluster represent executed traded volume, not pending buy or sell orders.

  • Red value on the left: Shows the traded volume executed at the bid by aggressive sellers.
  • Green value on the right: Shows the traded volume executed at the ask by aggressive buyers.
  • Total Sell and Total Buy: Show the total sell-side and buy-side traded volume for the Cluster.
  • Delta: Shows the difference between the total buy-side and sell-side traded volume in the Cluster.
  • Cumulative Delta (Cum Δ): Shows how Delta builds across multiple Clusters.

Delta

Delta shows the difference between aggressive buy-side and sell-side traded volume within a candle.

Formula:
Delta = Total Buy − Total Sell

A positive Delta means the buy-side traded volume is greater than the sell-side traded volume.

A negative Delta means the sell-side traded volume is greater than the buy-side traded volume.

You may still see aggressive buying at some price levels even when the candle has a negative overall Delta. This happens when the candle's total sell-side traded volume is greater than its total buy-side traded volume.

Delta helps you compare buy-side and sell-side pressure within a candle. Read it along with price movement and the other analysis you follow rather than treating it as a standalone trade signal.

Cumulative Delta (Cum Δ)

Cumulative Delta (Cum Δ) is the running total of Delta across multiple candles.

While Delta shows the difference in traded volume for a single candle, Cumulative Delta helps you follow how that difference develops across a sequence of candles.

  • When Cum Δ rises, buy-side traded volume is increasing relative to sell-side traded volume.
  • When Cum Δ falls, sell-side traded volume is increasing relative to buy-side traded volume.

This gives you a broader view of the order-flow activity instead of reading each candle independently.

Imbalance

An Imbalance occurs when the traded volume on the aggressive Buy or Sell side at a price level is significantly greater than the traded volume on the opposing side.

On the chart:

  • Bid values show traded volume executed when aggressive sellers transact against available buy orders.
  • Ask values show traded volume executed when aggressive buyers transact against available sell orders.

Example:

  • Ask-side traded volume at ₹250.05 = 300
  • Bid-side traded volume at ₹250.00 = 100
  • Ratio = 300 ÷ 100 = 3, or 300%

If the configured Imbalance Ratio is 300%, this meets that threshold for a buy imbalance.

An Imbalance helps you identify which side traded more aggressively at a particular price level. However, higher aggressive traded volume on one side does not necessarily mean that price will continue moving in that direction.

In simple terms, Imbalance shows where aggressive traded volume appeared, while the subsequent price movement shows how the market responded to it.
