How to use Group By to organise positions in FYERS?
The Group By feature in FYERS helps you categorise your positions based on shared attributes such as status, symbol, or profit/loss. This makes it easier to analyse trades in bulk and view patterns across holdings.
Steps
- Open the Portfolio → Positions section.
- At the top-left of the positions table, locate the Group By dropdown.
- Click the dropdown to view grouping options.
Choose from:
- Status (Default) — shows Open and Closed positions separately.
- P&L — groups positions by Profitable or Loss-making.
- Underlying — groups based on the base asset (e.g., NIFTY, BANKNIFTY).
- Products — sorts by product type (Intraday, MTF, etc.).
- Symbol Type — classifies based on instrument class (Equity, F&O, Commodity).
- The table view will automatically refresh and categorise positions into collapsible groups.
What If
Scenario | What to Do |
---|
Group By not working | Ensure there are at least two open positions to activate grouping. |
Positions aren’t grouped as expected | Try another category — some attributes may be shared across all trades. |
Want to reset view | Re-select Status or refresh the page. |
Can't see dropdown | It’s available only when Positions exist — not visible if there are no trades. |
Notes
Grouping is purely visual — it doesn’t impact orders, execution, or filters.
You can collapse or expand groups for a cleaner view.
Only one grouping can be active at a time.
