How to place a Trigger order in FYERS?
A trigger order lets you place a buy or sell only when the market reaches a specified price. It’s commonly used for stop-loss protection and breakout entries. FYERS supports two trigger types: SL-M (Stop-Loss Market) and SL-L (Stop-Loss Limit).
Important:
- For a Buy, the Trigger Price must be above LTP; for a Sell, it must be below LTP. (GTT orders follow different validation rules.)
- Trigger can be set as a price, %, or absolute value.
- In SL-L, the Limit Price must follow the Trigger in the direction of execution:
Buy: Limit ≥ Trigger
| Sell: Limit ≤ Trigger
. - SL-M is not allowed for Options; use SL-L (Trigger-Limit) instead.
- Trigger / Trigger-Limit is not available for Cover Orders (CO).
Quick example
If a stock trades at ₹100:
- Entry confirmation (Buy): set Trigger ₹102 (above LTP). When price reaches ₹102, your order activates.
- Manual stop-loss (Sell): set Trigger ₹98 (below LTP). If price falls to ₹98, your protective sell activates.
