How is In Person Verification (IPV) conducted?
IPV process makes it easier for clients/brokers to verify the person holding the Trading and DEMAT account. Earlier, IPV was done physically and got checked all your documents before opening an account. But now, the process is more straightforward as you can do a live authentication via video conferencing (Skype) at a pre-agreed time. For this, you must have a fast internet connection. The executive might ask you questions regarding your documents. If they find the answers contradictory or mismatch of documents, they can cancel your application.
Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI) allows the stockbroker to conduct In-Person Verification (IPV) either physically or through a web camera.
