Basket mode lets you place multiple option legs together in a single basket. Since each leg is sent to the exchange separately and sequentially, one leg may execute while another remains pending, partially filled, or rejected.
When this happens, review the live order status, modify pending legs if needed, and confirm your final position before taking further action.
When partial fills or pending legs may occur
Partial fills or pending legs can occur when:
- A Limit order price is not close enough to the current traded range.
- The selected contract has low liquidity.
- Only part of the available quantity is matched at the exchange.
- A leg is rejected due to price, quantity, product, or funds-related reasons.
In basket mode, the final strategy is complete only when all intended legs are executed. Until then, your margin requirement and market exposure may differ from what you expected.
Managing partial fills or pending legs
- After placing the basket, review the result screen for each leg’s status.
- Tap Go to orders to open the live orders. To understand where execution status is displayed, refer to Click here.
- Check which legs are Executed, Pending, Partially filled, or Rejected.
- For a Limit leg stuck as Pending, modify the price closer to the traded range.
- If immediate execution is required, switch the pending leg to Market, where available.
- If a leg is Partially filled, modify the remaining quantity or price based on liquidity.
- If a leg is Rejected, open Orders, check the rejection reason, correct the input, and place the leg again.
- Once the important hedge or balancing legs are executed, check Positions to confirm whether the final strategy matches your intended setup.
Until the hedge leg executes, Funds req may remain higher. If a hedge leg is pending, partially filled, or rejected, the full hedge benefit may not reflect.
What if...
| Scenario | Solution |
|---|
| A Limit leg is pending for too long | Modify the price closer to the traded range or switch to Market if immediate execution is required. |
| Only one side of the hedge is executed | Place or modify the remaining hedge leg quickly. Until then, margin and risk may remain higher. |
| A leg is partially filled | Modify the remaining quantity or price, or wait if liquidity is thin. |
| A leg is rejected | Check the rejection reason in Orders, correct the issue, and place the leg again. |
| Funds required is higher than expected | Check whether all hedge legs have executed. Hedge benefit may not apply until the required legs are filled. |
| The intended strategy is incomplete | Review Positions and decide whether to place the missing leg again or adjust or close the executed legs. |
| Execution needs to be done later | Use Save before placing the basket. Once placed, individual legs become live orders and must be managed from Orders. |
