How can the Overview tab help me understand an index on FYERS?

The Overview tab gives you a complete view of an index from a single page. Instead of checking only the current index value, you can understand its price movement, options activity, historical trends, and the stocks driving its performance.

Let's use the NIFTY50 Index as an example to understand how each section of the Overview tab can help you analyse an index.

Understand how the index is performing

Start by reviewing the Price Chart, which shows how NIFTY50 has moved over different timeframes. If the index is trading near its day's high, for example, you can quickly gauge its intraday momentum.

To understand the move better, refer to Price Analysis and Price Stats. These sections show where the current value sits within its trading range and provide key information such as the day's Open, High, Low, Previous Close, and 52-week High and Low.

Together, these sections help you understand the index's current market position before exploring deeper insights.

Analyse market sentiment and explore trading opportunities

Once you've reviewed the price movement, use Option Analytics to understand how traders are positioned in the derivatives market. For example, if Open Interest is increasing at specific strike prices, it may indicate that traders are actively building positions around those levels.

If you want to analyse further, use the Option Chain or Strategy Builder from the Tools section. Based on your market view, you can also explore the Strategies section to review options strategies for bullish, bearish, neutral, or directional markets.

Together, these sections help you move from market analysis to planning your next trade.

Understand what is driving the index

The final sections help you look beyond the index value.

Use the Seasonality Chart to review how NIFTY50 has historically performed across different months or quarters. You can use these historical trends as additional context while analysing the current market.

The Constituent Stocks section shows the companies that make up the index. For example, if Reliance Industries, HDFC Bank, and ICICI Bank are contributing the most to the day's movement, you can quickly identify them without opening each stock individually.

Together, these sections help you understand both the historical behaviour of the index and the stocks influencing its movement.
