When holdings are transferred to FYERS from another broker, the purchase price may not be accurately available. Updating the correct buy average helps ensure that your investment value, profit and loss (P&L), and applicable reports are calculated using the correct acquisition cost.
You can update the buy average price either from the Portfolio section or through the Transferred Holdings report.
Before updating the buy average
Keep the original purchase details of the transferred holding handy. You will need the following information:
- Buy date
- Quantity
- Buy price
If you are unsure about the original purchase price or date, refer to your previous broker's records or the applicable CAS (Consolidated Account Statement) before submitting the details.
Update buy average from Portfolio
You can update the buy average directly from your holdings:
- Open Portfolio and navigate to the Holdings section.
- Locate the transferred stock for which you want to update the buy average.
You can proceed in either of the following ways:
- Hover over the holding, select the three-dot menu, and click Update Buy Avg/Buy NAV.
- Click the holding to open its details panel on the right-hand side.
- Select Update to enter the actual purchase details.
- Enter the required Buy date, Quantity, and Buy price/NAV.
- Review the details carefully and confirm the update.
If the displayed buy average is already correct, select Accept instead of updating it.
Update buy average from Reports
You can also update the purchase details from the Transferred Holdings report:
- Go to Reports → Transactions → Transferred Holdings.
- Locate the transferred holding you want to update.
- Click the edit icon next to the buy average.
- Enter or verify the required purchase details.
- Review the information carefully and confirm the update.
Processing time
After the purchase details are submitted and confirmed, the updated buy average may take approximately 2–3 trading days to reflect in your FYERS account.
Important: Once the buy price details are confirmed, they cannot be modified or edited later. Verify the buy date, quantity, and buy price carefully before confirming.
